What is Affiliate Marketing?
To put it simply, affiliate marketing is all about “selling other people’s stuff”, LOL.
No really, it’s true. You sell other people’s products or services and receive a commission when you do.
As a beginner, it can sound a little intimidating, but it doesn’t have to be. It’s pretty simple at its core.
One of my favourite definitions comes from a very successful marketer himself, Pat Flynn. He says…
“…affiliate marketing is the process of earning a commission by promoting other people’s (or company’s) products. You find a product you like, promote it to others, and earn a piece of the profit for each sale that you make.”
So basically, your business would be centred around a specific topic, and your audience is those interested in that topic.
As you provide support for their questions and concerns, you’ll find products or services that could help them.
These are the products you recommend to them. And when they purchase these products, you are rewarded with a commission by the product owner or creator.
Here’s an image that might help as well…
Now sometimes there’s an affiliate network tossed in there. For instance, platforms like Clickbank or MaxBounty host many products and services on one platform.
If you choose one of those items from a platform like these, it’s the platform that pays you instead of the product owner.
Affiliate commissions can run anywhere from 2% to 75% or more.
A site like Amazon is at the lower end. They call their commissions “advertising fees”, and the rates range from 1% to 10%.
Whereas some digital products (software, ebooks, and such) from sites like Clickbank can reach as high as 90%. On average they range at about 50%.
Advertisers (product owners) love affiliate marketing because it provides them with free advertising.
They never have to pay out fees unless they’ve received a paying customer.
It’s up to the publisher (you) to create inviting promotions to attract your customers. And it’s easier than you think!
So really, it’s a win-win for everyone.

The owners of Wealthy Affiliate have always put their members above making money off of them. They know that there are many products out there that are charging way too much money for what they offer, and they are determined not to do that.
That’s one of the reasons why I like WA so much. They care about their members becoming successful.
It’s amazing that when they started, about 15 years ago, it was simply a keyword list site. And they were charging exactly the same then as they do now.
Only now you get everything you need to start your business. And every year they keep improving, adding, and updating. And the membership cost is the same as it was 15 years ago.
You don’t have to commit to anything. You can certainly pay monthly, and leave whenever you wish. I do recommend at least a year though. Their stats show that those members who do commit for at least a year are more successful.
I’ve been there for 8 years, and don’t plan on leaving. The total cost of website hosting, keyword research, and more training than I have time to take (lol) is way cheaper there than anywhere else online.

Many people quit too soon due to impatience, and I don’t blame them because there are so many scammers promising overnight riches. So all I can do is encourage patience and hard work. And hopefully, my readers will see the truth in those statements.
I’m so happy to see that you’re earning a full-time income now. Some people can do it in a year, and some take longer. It really depends on your niche and how many hours you invest in your business each week.
And that’s the free traffic way! You could speed that up if you have an advertising budget, but most newbies can’t afford that. But if you reinvest your first profits into advertising, that could help scale up faster.

I joined many affiliate training programs over the years and Wealthy Affiliate beats every one of them, hands-down.
Often, with other programs, you’re left high and dry when you have questions or need that little extra bit of help.
Worse, some courses are never upgraded and soon go out of date.
Wealthy Affiliate is none of those things. Great help from the owners and the vibrant community, and ever-expanding courses that’s also kept-up-to-date.

Yes, Wealthy Affiliate is one of a kind. And they are all-inclusive so you never have to go elsewhere to get something you need.
I’ve been there since 2011, and have no plans to leave. There’s always something new to learn and the hosting platform is incredibly powerful.

I already have a live wordpress website hosted by GoDaddy. I am considering EBA but was directed to WA. Should I still join if I have the website already?

Yes, you certainly can. You can move your website over to Wealthy Affiliate, or leave it at GoDaddy.
Personally, I would move it over because the hosting is awesome at WA. And their security it state-of-the-art. I’ve personally used their site support, and they respond quickly and effectively. The choice is yours, but you won’t regret moving it over.
Remember to save your site to your computer first though! If you’re not sure how to move over, there are in-depth explanations within WA, and I’m sure GoDaddy does too.

There are many advantages to yearly membership at Wealthy Affiliate. The training, chat, hosting, ease of writing articles and getting comments are some of the great things.
Having a year to get your business going, with less cost per month, are two of the great advantages.
You can spend less money there than just getting website hosting elsewhere.

Yes, there are so many advantages to becoming a member with Wealthy Affiliate. Like I said in the review, it’s less than getting the same quality services elsewhere, plus all the great training and community.
I’ve been with them for several years now, and have no desire to leave. The training seems never ending. And as long as there are changes in this industry (which there always is), there will be new things to learn.

People may be thinking my comment here may be biased. But I argue this: if it was all fibs, why on earth would I still be hanging around WA after 2 and a half years if it weren’t worth its while?
If I hadn’t found the whole package advantageous to me, I would never have kept wasting my time and effort, and money in it, right?
I really hope your visitors see the potential there is for this business plan. As you say, it’s good for pros, but it’s absolutely perfect for newbies 🙂

I must admit if it was not for me joining Wealthy Affiliate myself I would not be where I am today.
I was hesitant about joining this program after being scammed by similar programs. You can be sure this is a legitimate and honest training program which you will learn more than you ever imagine.

As a newcomer, I would recommend you follow the certification course before anything else. You don’t want to get overwhelmed. As you go through the course, Kyle will show you all the other benefits, one by one. In a short time, everything falls into place and makes sense.
The community is my favourite part. It’s a great way to network and get valuable advice or help. And the successful members are more than willing to help the newcomers.

Thanks for the great review of Wealthy Affiliate. I’m a big fan of Wealthy Affiliate; the value they offer is incredible when compared to other options and the training is great! I noticed that you posted screenshots of success that others have found with Wealthy Affiliate but I haven’t been able to chat with people directly who have found such success. I’ve always been interested to hear more about the numbers behind the numbers; for example, one of the testimonials claimed a net of $58k in 35 days…was this because $10k was spent in advertising a launch during the previous month? Or, perhaps he spent a year creating blog posts to drive traffic and then the income came.

I’m so glad you enjoy Wealthy Affiliate. The value is exceptional for everything they offer. And no upsells, which is important to me. Everyone can start for free, then upgrade to premium and that’s it.
There are many more success stories like the ones I mentioned, and if you go to their profiles, all of the posts they’ve published over the years are listed under their name.
Many who’ve had this type of success are happy to share how they’ve achieved it. So most likely there’s a post about it. If not, you can private message them and ask directly. I’ve talked to several successful marketers for advice and mentoring.
There are many ways to achieve that kind of income. If they’ve been consistently receiving high monthly income, then it’s possible they reinvest it into their business for higher returns. That’s what I do. This is one way to grow your business…reinvest.
Of course blogging over time is always necessary. It takes time for your website to “age” and gain authority in Google’s eyes.

I think I’m an example of how the Wealthy Affiliate community helps people achieve their goals and lay a foundation for success. Recently I wanted a way to better show case the products on my website. I reached out to a fellow WA community member, and got help on the best way to get started.
For me it was switching to a storefront theme that would make it easier for customers to see my products.
I still have a lot of work to do, but I know once it’s all done I’ll be in a really good place.
My story is replicated hundreds of time at WA. This makes it a very powerful platform for success.

I love the site content feature! It’s not only simple to use, they now provide over 1 million optimized photos to use in your blogs. No more worrying about copyrights.
It also provides you your writing statistics to watch your overall activity. You can set word and publishing goals to keep you on track. And there are different templates, including privacy policy, affiliate disclosure, and about me pages.
I like the fact that all your blogs are saved there, and you can organize them according to website.
Once I’m done writing, I can publish directly to my WordPress website, save it as a draft to fine tune, or publish at a predetermined date. That’s so handy when you know you’ll be away for some time.
I think you’ll really enjoy it. It does save a lot of time overall.
