Who Is This System For?
If you’re interested in a very brief overview in the area of movie reviews, this is it. But brief with no training. And I certainly don’t think it’s worth $37.
All of this information is online for free. And if you visit the actual movie review sites, you’ll get all the current information you need.
Unfortunately, this product is old and outdated. I would suggest prior to 2014. It’s still linking you to Squidoo, an article directory, that was taken over by HubPages in August 2014.
My biggest disappointment was reading about unethical methods. That’s not my idea of a good product, what so ever!
How Does It Work?
This is certainly one way to make money online if you enjoy watching TV! But it will certainly take you hours of your time for some income, especially if you sell your review. You may get $20 or so, but that’s about it.
The better scenario for you would be to start your own business with a website.
Let take a look at the sales page and video first…
The Sales Page
There are two different sales landing pages, and both are OK. Not as ridiculous as many products I’ve reviewed, lol.
Though fairly understated, the scarcity and geo-location tactics were there. But only to persuade you to buy quickly.
Mine said that because I’m from Canada, I get a free gift of 50% off. Well, guess what? Everyone gets this. And the 50% off simply brings it to the product cost of $37, haha.
It will also say your coupon expires in… But the countdown clock was at 0 and stayed there even if I refreshed the page. It doesn’t even work?
So OK, nothing too bad here!
The Sales Video
The video was what I expected.
Unrealistic Income Claims
It starts out by telling you that you can make $20 – $30 per hour watching and reviewing movies from home. I really doubt that!
If a movie is about 2 – 2.5 hours long, and by the time you’ve written your review and sell it somewhere, you’re not making much.
Sites like RottenTomatoes don’t pay, and there is a list of requirements to even get accepted. It’s a review aggregator site, and you would get paid by a company you work for (if you do).
Another site I researched was called Review Stream and I couldn’t get a clear answer on payment. Their frequently asked questions refer to $10 – $15 per, or $2 – $3 for a bulk rate.
But no matter how you look at it, you won’t be making $20 – $30 per hour!
The Usual Sob Story
It’s amazing how all these types of sales videos try to relate to you by telling you a sob story. They usually follow a script, something like this:
- Something happens to his job or his health, and he’s almost ruined.
- He can no longer take care of his wife and children.
- Someone he knows shows up with an idea.
- He launches the system and makes immediate money.
- Now he’s rich and wants to help people.
The nice change to this scenario is that he asks you to pay-it-forward. Most sales videos I watch will tell you to keep it secret because they “don’t want too many people in the system”.
But Jeff wants you to tell your family, friends and neighbours. Nice change of pace, eh?
Make Money The Same Day??
Jeff says you can make money today. That I’m not sure about either. By the looks of the application process with these movie review sites, it’ll take a few days or more to just get set up. And that’s if you’re accepted. I’m sure there’s a probationary period for newbies.
Watch How Many Movies?
In this story, this fellow had his wife helping him, and they were watching up to 40 movies per week. At a movie time of about 2 hours each, that’s an 80-hour work week??
OK, that’s just nuts! And when will you have time to write anything? Are you working a day job?
Wow… talk about eye strain!
He said he’d go to work and his wife would stay home with the kids and watch movies. So now you have neglected kids too, haha.
The Movie Calculator
This is one way to try to persuade you to buy. Punch in some numbers and see how rich you can get, lol. But it’s still a ridiculous amount of movies to watch per day.
I don’t know, maybe someone can actually watch 5-10 movies per day. I couldn’t and I don’t think the average person could either.
The Free Gift Tactic
Remember when I said that one of the landing pages offered me a free gift of 50% off because I’m in Canada? Well, guess what? No matter where you live, you’ll get the same thing, lol.
The Product Inside
Inside the member area is a lot of information, but unfortunately it’s old and outdated. Some of it is OK, but some of their links and recommendations no longer apply.
And if you have your own website business, you’ll need to make sure you don’t apply those outdated methods. It can really hurt your website.
Chapter 1
This first section talks about the two different ways to create your income, directly or indirectly. He gives the pros and cons of each method.
I will always recommend you start with your own website, and you’ll get some training in further chapters.
Chapter 2
This chapter confirmed to me that this is an old, outdated product. He starts to tell you sites where you can get paid directly for your movie reviews.
Of the six sites he recommends:
- Squidoo and Big Cinema are no longer available.
- App Trailers works on a point system now.
- And Netflix has a rigorous interview process to get on their writing team.
I couldn’t find any information on the Netflix site about uploading reviews. I could only find an article written by a person who’s on their team and works out of their Hollywood office.
It doesn’t appear that you can submit reviews for Netflix if you ever could.
Chapter 3
This chapter talks about scaling your income by hiring someone to write for you. You can find freelance writers on sites like Fiverr.
Now my site comes up in Canadian dollars, so my cheapest price would be $6.92 up to $41.
It would be slightly cheaper in US dollars, but the point is… Unless you’re seriously doing this as a business, and not just for pocket change, paying out for many reviews will really cut into your profits.
He also talks about an “unethical” way of doing business. Wow…
Really?? Google is getting very good at determining duplicate articles. And if you get caught, you’ll be banned from different sites, and your business’s reputation might not recover.
He goes on to talk about another “unethical” technique. He gets himself off the hook by saying he doesn’t endorse it, but sheesh…
Is this how you offer valuable training to your customers? By showing them ways to break the rules?
Please, I don’t recommend you try this!
Chapter 4
In this chapter, he briefly talks about both free and paid traffic. He mentions:
- YouTube and gives you a couple of ideas for tools to use.
- Commenting on forums.
- Article marketing.
Here is more proof that this is outdated material. Jeff gives you a list of article directories to post an article to. This practice is no longer advised and can potentially hurt your website.
Regarding paid traffic, he talks about PPC (pay per click) and Facebook. He only talks about Google Adwords, and tells you the advantages of using the PPC method, but nowhere does he show you “how” to do it.
It’s the same with Facebook Ads. He briefly talks about placing ads on Facebook but doesn’t show you “how” to do it.
Oh… and this is why it’s no longer advised to use article directories. When Google changed its algorithm to clean up all the spam online, this is what it did to Squidoo…
All the things Squidoo tried to clean up are rampant among many directories, and that’s why we don’t post articles with them anymore.
Chapter 5
This is the chapter that introduces you to indirect payment via your own website. He starts out by showing you examples of websites with various forms of content. Reviews? Top 10’s? Trivia? Movie star bios?
He then quickly tells you how to choose a domain name and sends you to “Name Cheap”, lol.
The website hosting advice is short and I wouldn’t take his advice anyway. He directs you to a site called Host Nine, which he says has the best value. NOT!!
I researched this site and pulled up a lot of bad reviews. And sure their cheapest plan is $8.29, but that’s for the US only.
And to get an SSL certificate (which everyone needs these days) costs another $39.99. The only priority support is with their top plan, and that costs an additional $15.
After briefly talking about needing a WordPress site, he talks about your website content and the need to keep it organized. This is true! An organized site makes it a user-friendly site.
But no mention of keywords! You can write all the content you want, but if you don’t use the right keywords, no one will find you online!
Finally, he discusses ways to monetize your site with:
- CPA (cost per action) ads – some links no longer work.
- Adsense
- Amazon
- Commission Junction – affiliate links
Again, there’s just a mention of these methods. No practical training or how-tos.
Chapter 6
This is simply a brief case study of everything put together. Again, no training for newbies.
The Upsells
These, I didn’t buy. I never trust a product when I don’t know who the owner is. I wasn’t impressed with the initial product, because not only is it outdated, there’s no practical training.
And because of these reasons, I can’t trust that the upsells will be any better.
Ok before we go on, a funny movie review video, LOL. If you have about 3 minutes to spare, you have to watch this! For all dating couples…
Ok, now back to reality, haha…
Pros
- 60-day money-back guarantee
- Low cost
Cons
- Outdated material
- Some links are no longer available
- Some advice can hurt your business
- No practical training
Final Thoughts And Recommendations
Many people are making money with movie reviews, but it’s mostly those who have started their own online business with a website.
A website can be branded. This means that eventually you’ll become popular to the masses, and your revenue can come from multiple income streams.
This is why I will always recommend you have your own website. In time, you could develop a lot of traffic and create for yourself a passive income.
This product does talk about that but sadly doesn’t give you enough information to actually get you up and running.
Is Movie Review Profits a scam? No
Would I recommend it? No
If this is something you really want to start, there are other articles online to help you. But when I researched “how do I earn money writing movie reviews”, most of the articles were 2-4 years old. My guess is that it’s not as easy to submit reviews anymore.
But starting your own business with a website is always current. Anyone can start their own money-making website. It’s not difficult when you have the proper training and tools at your disposal.
Can I give you my sincere recommendation?
I’d love for you to come and see where I learned how to start my own successful online business, and where I run it to this day. And in fact, some of our members own their own movie review websites…
The platform has everything you need under one roof. Here’s some of what they offer:
- Training – Step by step courses, classrooms, tutorials, and live weekly webinars.
- A domain registry – An easy way to find the perfect name for your business.
- A website builder – With over 4,000 WordPress themes to choose from.
- Website hosting – With powerful servers, security, backups, and emails, and more.
- A keyword research tool – Find low-competition keywords for the best ranking.
- A large and active LIVE community – They always have your back!
- And much more…
With patience, consistency and hard work, you can build your own online empire that will pay you while you sleep!
If you click on the image below, you can read all about it. And when you join, I’ll greet you on the inside and help you out as long as you want me too.

Thank you so much, Suzanne, for the detailed review of Movie Review Profits.
As you mentioned in your post, there is always a legitimate way to earn a passive income for the long term.
You want to do what you like and what you are passionate about instead of wasting hours and hours watching movies.
And there’s certainly no guarantee you can make an income, and probably you will hurt your lovely eyes.
Great reference post.
Hi Omark,
I’m glad you enjoyed my review. And you’re right, there’s no guarantee you’ll make money with movie reviews.
The best way would be to spend time creating your own website, but even then, there is a tremendous amount of competition out there for you.
There are so many better ways to create an online income. And one that won’t turn you into a couch potato, LOL.
If you need any help with a business idea, let me know. I’m here to help.
Thanks so much for commenting,
Suzanne
Hi Suzanne,
I loved your review.
Finding out that I can get paid for movies is amazing.
Watching movies are my favourite thing to do other than stuffing my face with food or watching sports.
Thanks so much,
Adrian
Hi Adrian,
Ya, it would be fun getting paid to watch movies, right?
Please be careful of this product though. It’s old and outdated. You can still create an online income with this, but you should start your own review website instead of posting reviews to someone else’s.
That way you can find things to promote or use placement ads, etc, to make even more money.
If you have any questions, let me know and I’ll be glad to help.l
Cheers,
Suzanne
Hi Suzanne,
Thank you for this helpful article.
This definitely has helped me out by staying clear of the movie reviews profit.
I hope many more people see this article before they go through all of those obstacles.
Thanks again,
Kyle
Hi Kyle,
I’m so glad you enjoyed my review. And happy you did some research before buying into the program.
It’s so disappointing when I find old material that’s still being promoted. It’s such a shame. And so many people are still being convinced it’s a good thing. I hope they get their refund as soon as possible.
There are so many better ways to make an online income.
If you have any questions about that, please let me know. I’d love to help.
Thanks again for your comment,
Suzanne
Hi Suzanne,
Love this review. It’s very detailed and you provide sufficient evidence to support your conclusion.
If I ever get anything in my inbox about this product, I’ll delete it right away!
Thanks!
Hi Betsy, and thanks. I’m glad you enjoyed my review.
I like to do a lot of research on these products and offer proof of why people should stay away.
My desire is to help people, and steer them away from things that just take your money. There are so many great ways to make money online. And this product sure isn’t one of them, lol.
If you ever need help with any online business, please let me know.
Cheers,
Suzanne
Gosh, you’ve been able to share so much about this and review in such detail.
You made a really good point about it linking to outdated links. It seems like such a con.
It would be sad indeed if people are actually watching high amounts of movies per week as a way to make money. There definitely are much more fulfilling and brain engaging ways to make money for sure.
I hope they honoured their 60-day money-back guarantee for you!
Thanks for taking the time to write a review.
Hi Kat, and thanks for commenting!
It’s frustrating to see so many products out there that are old and outdated. It just goes to show you that the owner is just wanting to make money and doesn’t care about offering real help to people.
Yes, watching that many movies per day would drive me crazy, lol. I love movies, but doing it to earn money would take the joy out of it, I think.
The only good thing about these products is the money-back guarantee. Clickbank is quite good about giving refunds.
Cheers,
Suzanne
Wow, I can never invest in a program that offers absolutely no training, plus I think you mentioned upsells, too.
In the age of the internet, things are constantly changing, so if material’s outdated, it’s likely that the owners of these kinds of platforms simply refuse to take their platforms seriously.
Definitely not worth the investment.
However, for those looking to get into this, as you mentioned, will definitely make money if they start a website and go ahead and start reviewing movies, books, or whatever it is they wish to write about.
It’ll take time but as their sites gain authority, good things will happen.
Thanks again for a great review,
Todd
Hi Todd,
You’re so right about these owners not taking their platforms seriously. They’re just coming up with ways to make money and don’t care about their customers.
When you have your own website, you can do whatever you wish. And there are many movie review sites that are successful.
With time, effort, and patience, you can creat your own brand and start making good money with ads in your site.
Thanks for commenting,
Suzanne
