Who Is This PDF For?

This would be for anyone who wants a basic understanding of the affiliate marketing process. But that’s all you’ll get with this. Just a basic understanding.

Your PDF is only 10 chapters, and as you can see, it’s all explained in only 70 pages… in a large print with lots of images!

This is also a PLR product that was released in 2018.

The information you get is what’s considered “evergreen”. This means that it’s very general and would apply to most future strategies.

But this is all it is! General information with no training what so ever.

It might be a nice guide to have on hand to remind you of methods you haven’t considered yet, but you’ll have to get any training elsewhere.

How Does It Work?

This is actually a PLR product created by Sajan Elanthoor and Justin Opay. PLR stands for “Private Label Rights” because it’s created by someone who sells it with certain rights.

His customer pays for the PLR and is allowed to use it for resale or giveaway. The creator specifies what is and isn’t allowed.

In this case, it can’t be changed, modified, or given away for free. You can find this product on several PLR websites, such as IDPLR.com.

This product has been marketed by other sellers as well, and some are using the upgraded portion as upsells and OTOs. In other words, the upgraded product (also on IDPLR) has videos and audio that can be sold as upsells.

This is a common practice for affiliate marketing. You buy a PLR and resell it as your own product.

But usually, the affiliate will tweak it and improve upon it. This time it’s simply sold “as is”.

Let’s look at his sales page.

Sales Page

This page tells you you always have to filter all your affiliate marketing decisions through these principles:

• How do I maximize my income while minimizing my effort?
• For every minute I spend on doing something, how do I maximize the amount of dollars coming out of that activity?

These are valid points to be sure. No one wants to spend time on methods that don’t work!

It goes on to say that he’s put together a step-by-step guide that will show you exactly how it’s done in 4 steps.

I laughed here… what 4 steps. There’s nothing in the product about 4 steps! LOL

I guess it’s just to make it sound more enticing. Plus you’ll never have to spend thousands on coaching or workshops because it’s all here for you…?

Those are unbelievable claims, if not outright untrue. Let’s look at what you get…

As I suspected, this is simply an overview of the affiliate marketing process with the methods that are currently working for people.

This person didn’t even bother to edit anything! Take a look at the cover…

Not that this affects what’s written inside, but it’s just poor marketing in my opinion! And he obviously didn’t read what’s written inside.

Remember when I said that the PLR owner also released an upgrade to this PDF? The introduction in this document talks about the videos that follow. What videos. He only purchased the PDF product which didn’t come with videos.

He should have taken that sentence out. Buyers will now be expecting videos…

Chapters

Chapter 1 is probably the best as far as giving some expanded information. It’s all about choosing the right niche. There are 6 steps here.

The information is brief but accurate.

Chapter 2 gives you a very simple explanation about PPC (pay per click), PPS (pay per sale) and CPA (cost per action). It then talks about different affiliate programs you can use to promote within your niche and what to look for.

Again, very brief, but accurate. The problem is that the terminology might be confusing for newbies. You might find yourself having to research the meaning of several terms like:

• Landing pages
• Tracking your clicks
• Links
• Conversion systems

To those of us in this industry, these seem simple to understand. But I remember when I started out… I had no idea what all this meant!

Chapter 3 goes into these conversion systems with the advantages and disadvantages of each. It doesn’t teach you how to perform each method. It gives you an overview of each so you have an idea of what it’s about.

1. Direct link promotion
2. Content-based ad traffic
3. Email-based traffic
4. Review traffic
5. Video traffic
6. Search platform with original content
7. Niche product review platform

The advantages and disadvantages are a nice touch, to prepare you in advance!

Chapter 4 discusses direct traffic to your link. It covers:

• Facebook ads and Google ads
• Direct Blogger or authority site outreach
• Influencer outreach
• Outreach for mailing list building

I appreciated the pros and cons given of each method.

Chapter 5 goes briefly into SEO (backlinks). SEO is much more complex and necessary than what’s discussed here. It only talks about backlinks, and how to get them.

At least it only discusses “white-hat” techniques. What I mean is that in the past, affiliate marketers would try to “cheat” the system by buying backlinks to their sites. That’s no longer tolerated by Google.

Earning your backlinks the honest way is the only acceptable way to go, now!

Chapter 6 is about social media. It covers:

• YouTube review videos
• Facebook video content
• Facebook site link content
• Twitter tweets
• Instagram
• Pinterest

This chapter is very general, but not all that evergreen.

These platforms can make significant changes to the way you can promote your products, so what works today may not work next week.

Chapter 7 is about forums and how powerful they can be for your business.

It covers the pros and cons of Reddit, 4Chan, and niche-specific forums.

Chapter 8 talks about question and answer platforms like Yahoo Answers and Quora.

It’s a brief explanation, but the pros and cons given for each are nice.

Chapter 9 is about traffic generation. Again, this is a huge topic for affiliate marketing, but it simply gives you a brief explanation about guest posts and leaving comments.

Yes, these are two great ways to generate traffic, but oh my… there are so many more!

Chapter 10 is the longest chapter at 9 pages. It goes over traffic optimization strategies such as:

1. Six steps of optimization basics
2. Scaling up your optimized traffic sources
3. Content-based ad traffic
4. Email list marketing
5. Review content optimization
6. Video content optimization

There are some greats tips and tricks here which could send you in the right direction. But again, it’s only suggestions and no training.

And there you have it! It’s short but a decent overview of how to succeed with your affiliate marketing business.

This cheat sheet is a 9 page PDF that breaks down the guide in point form. For those of you who like to have just the main points listed, this is for you.

#2: Modern Affiliate Marketing Mindmap

This is a 7 page PDF which goes over the points again. Very similar to the cheat sheet, but not nearly as “pretty”, lol.

I really don’t see the sense of this document…

#3: Modern Affiliate Marketing Resource Guide

This 3 page PDF gives you a list of links to the various sites mentioned in the main guide. Some links are to paid services, though, like SEO resources such as:

• Backlinko
• Ahrefs
• Semrush
• Majestic

They all offer free trial periods, but then you must start paying a monthly fee.

Sales Page Video

This is one of two different videos you may see on the sales page. It’s extremely hyped up and though the guide is decent, it doesn’t meet all the promises this video is making…

My Concerns

Don’t get me wrong. The guide is OK for an overview of all the successful strategies that affiliate marketers are using today. It’s good to know if you’re just starting out and don’t have someone giving you some direction.

But my biggest concern is for those of you who listen to the sales video and read the sales page. It’s a lot of hype and promises that aren’t possible with the information you get.

But they are only overviews. There is no training here. So unless you have an idea of how to go about performing these methods, you’ll still be stuck!

I was quite alarmed to read some questions and answers at the bottom of the page:

• How long until I see results?

“You can begin seeing results extremely quickly. Within days and sometimes even within hours of getting started. The more you make this a part of your daily life, the better the results you’ll get.”

Wow, this is so misleading. Unless you’re willing to spend money on paid advertising or paid traffic, there’s no way you’re going to make money this quickly.

• Do I need to buy anything other than this guide?

That’s the great thing about this. All you need to learn about modern affiliate marketing strategies are in this step-by-step guide.”

Again, misleading. Yes, you can read this overview, but to actually start your own business, you’re going to need services that will cost you money.

There are ways to start with a small budget, even free, but it will eventually cost money to scale and grow your business.

Pros

• Decent overview of affiliate marketing

Cons

• No training whatsoever
• The sales page is all hype
• Making promises it can’t keep

Final Thoughts And Recommendations

There are at least 5 other people selling this product on JVZoo, without any great success. And I believe it’s because they’re all using the material as is. No one is changing anything to make it their own.

When you click on their sales pages, they’re all identical. No personality. No uniqueness!

But with that said, I think this guide is OK. It’s a decent overview of the affiliate marketing industry, and which methods are currently working the best.

Just, please don’t believe all the promises on the sales page. There’s no training here, so actually getting started won’t be easy if you’re on your own.

Is Modern Affiliate Marketing a scam?   No

Would I recommend it?   Yes
